PSN & Live Down For Christmas
I don't know if I buy that it's all DDOS, I think influxes of new users and people constantly trying to log in on top of whatever DDOSing was done is probably what kept things down and now we're looking at them having to try and get things running as a ton of people keep trying to get on.
I was pretty disappointed by the whole thing since I got a PS4 & Destiny for Christmas and was left out in the cold.

I was over at r/wiiu where they were anticipating a ddos anthem from Christmas gone live. funny thing wiiu disks have an update with them, so they go online without much hassle :)

my dad was pissed today going off about the lizardsquad & dot kim, trolling social media at it's finest. what can i say, dad needs to play his fifa15'

although i did see used rooted routers to lunch their attack on twitter. who knows, i always love it when shit like this happens.

sony is terribad at netsec, they need to fire their ciso and get someone competent.

I read a report about what is actually going on with Sony's servers and it was heavily implied that they only had one server effected by whatever was done and that when they took it up another server tried to compensate and ended up crashing. This then just repeated until they pulled everything offline themselves.
I don't know that they're terrible at security. It would help if they ran their own stuff but ultimately they're just a bigger target because they have their fingers in so much stuff.

They did the same thing with Wii. If the game required a version of the Wii OS beyond the launch version, it would be on the disc and auto-update whenever you started the game.

Sony has had the same guy in charge of security forever. through like two major security breaches now. I wish I had that kind of job security.

Sony used to do that with the PSP.
I remember when there weren't OS updates. lol
PS2 had them but no one had PSN then really. PS1 didn't really have them.
