Hey guys,

I've promoted GAMEchief to administrator to try and shake things up a bit. I think he's got a bit of a plan to pump some life back in to the site, so we'll see how he goes.

Needless to say, I've taken a full database/filesystem backup prior to writing this, so worse case scenario is he makes a meal of it, we all laugh at him and we restore to where we are at the moment.

Not sure. Looks like Thomas was demoted. Torian is never really on anymore.

Either way, both far too inactive to be considered admins at this point.

It's crazy to see the dramatic change this site went too compared to like 2010 or 2009..
Honestly, all the gaia selling and all that other crap was what brought all the activity.

Although, I could be wrong.. maybe perhaps it's just gaia that's dead now.

@Arti: I think you should try to get the mail server back online, GAME and I had been talking about that, and send a little reminder email out to all users, saying "Hey, come back, we're still awesome!" or something haha.

It will probably take a while before the mail server can handle being back online. There is an exploit involving it and don't even know where to begin to look in regards to patching it.

PM me the name and version of the mailserver and stuff, and I'll send you a list of all of the exploits associated with that version so you can look for patches.

It's an exploit in vB, theoretically, not the mail server, that gives access to the mail function. As far as I know, someone may have uploaded their own malicious script via FTP. But the mail server is shut down until the source of the spam is found. I might have to make a spider to find files that send e-mails, but I'll have to ask Arti for whatever information he has beforehand.

Why wouldn't you guys update your vB then? lol.

Well, remember, if you need any help just throw me a PM or a Steam message or something. I know countless people broke into LG from EBU and stuff after Aleena telling them how LG was vulnerable and stuff, so it wouldn't surprise me if we had some spambot scripts and stuff.

Updating vB wouldn't break a good backdoor. But it would break the themes and plugins and customizations. Plus I don't think this version of vB is even still supported; they recently made the next major version and I think dropped support for this one. It's generally a better idea to patch and code changes yourself.
