They can be quite interesting.

The think the original poem is off Tumblr or something. But this guy narrates it so well. If he's not the original author (and I don't think he is), he has insane talent.

Could be, with poetry slams you could write your own, but it's more common to recite one already made.
That way you just work on the way you express it, rather than finding ways to express yourself through words and then expressing yourself again through the emotions of sound while stating them aloud.
