Anyone have experience painting plastics?

Just wondering if someone can tell me if im on the right track. I dont want feedback from a video you just watched, I want to know if you have had experience with this sort of thing and can help me out a bit.

Clean all parts with alcohol so no oil from my hands get on it

Start by doing 2 coats of a primer 3 minutes apart (probably adhesion promoter)

Spray on the first coat (lightly) of a color, wait 15 minutes
spray on second coat (lightly) of same color, wait 15 minutes
spray on last coat a little thicker but not thick enough to drip wait 15 minutes

Spray on second color with the same method as before

15 minutes after the second color drys spray on 3 coats of clear coat

Wait 24 hours for it to dry completely than put controller back together.

I've painted the plastic coating on helmets before. It was a similar process to what you have here but I sanded down the glossy surface before I applied my primer.

What kind of primer and paint are you using? Also, what is it you're painting exactly, is it something really big?
Three coats each seems really thick to me.
I've done both, but I'm more use to painting metal rather than plastic.
I don't really paint plastic.
Quality of paint types always varies, what does the back of the can of both primer and paint you're using say?

I'm use to sanding things, washing them, making sure they are absolutely dry and that there's nothing that would at all interfere with the coating.
You shouldn't need a heck load of primer.
Also, after finishing up with the primer, it'd be safe to wait 10-30mins, I know it can be funky if it's not quite dry.

What. Wait. Three coats of primer, three coats of paint, then three coats of clear?
Don'tdothat.
Please. It'd be really nice to know what you're painting (and paint/primer brands).
Because three coats of both primer and paint goes against what I've been taught and done.
But it might depend on what you're painting, and what you're using to paint.
