It was similar to Second Life, except you didn't have to download it and it was in browser. You could chat, drive cars, etc. My friend was wanting to know the name of it and I cannot seem to find it. Any ideas?

This reminds me of the series of games by Maid Marian. The (debateably) most popular of which was Sherwood Dungeon.
Really cool set of games. But maybe either Marian's World or Club Marian.

As previous poster has already said, it sounds exactly like one of the Marian games. To me it sounds more like Club Marian, though. If it's not either of those, you could compare your memories to the games on this list.:)

Is it that game Sony made? IDK if you could drive cars, but I know they made a Second Life competitor that was in-browser and a download. The website was really really blue IIRC.
