Gaian artists, thats where the real money is made.
Anyone here actually good at art? I see some of those auctions going into the millions.. would be a quick way to make money, I used to hang out in the freebie forums and do quick paint drawings, you would be surprised what some people tip for half decient art.

I've done art for a few people, mainly as birthday presents. It's been months since I've done it...

People tip pretty well if you do it well for a rich person (same goes for prostitution).
#3
Yes, the higher up people make about 100k - 1mill+
Depending who your artist is.
Like DJ Lune.
So good but she's so pricey.
I'd draw that avi of you if I had my tablet back.

im not good but i try XD sorry if this isnt good to you this is the kind of art i like to do
#5
I cant do CG well enough to sell it but my pencil and inked art is pretty good, I have a shop thread in the user store forum here and I make about 10-50k a piece for my art on gaia on my main.

My art usually sells any where from 20k - 300k
My shit tastical art

HouseofCatz's Gallery

I don't normally take commission though because I'm lazy and it takes me like a week. D:

Your art is awesome, ^_^

Oh thank you, I don't think it's awesome, but it's decent. XD
It's really hard to find good artist on gaia now. o.o;

I used to get paid up to 60k for "art"
I took their avatar and ran it through this effect filter, but everyone loved it.
I wont tell you what the effect was - I dont want you to steal my idea ;P

Not really. Good art goes for over 1 million, and for most of the pieces they actually take a few hours at least. Few hours work for $4-5? Not worth it :p

Would be quicker getting a job and buying gold.
#11
Chibis were shittastically easy to make in photoshop xD
Run through a lineart action, then morph it down a little in height, erase some of the detail, and do some coloring.

Sadly for some reason, I have the hardest time drawing chibis. Or at least I use to. D:

@Arti: That's actually really true, and why I don't take many commission. They just aren't worth the 4 - 7 hours of work for the price. (Depending on what I'm drawing/coloring)

true true
but some people enjoy drawing
and would draw regardless...so why not earn something at the same time?

That is very true. If I loved art I would do it even if it took 5-8 hours, Cause the more you practice it the better you will get and the more money you will make.
#15
Good art fetches money no doubt. But then there arent a lot of buyers out these days you know. Even in forums many people just spam a lot (specially art). The good artists are gone. People dont spend unless they are bambooozling rich
#16
Agreed I saw some one who drew only for items. Some of the best i have ever seen the item they wanted was 18mill
#17
I should try this, I'm awesome at drawing.
But it just seems like too much effort to actually create your thread.
The amount of work people do, custom headings, table of contents etc.
#18
I used to sell art for 100k a piece
But that was long ago
Until i lost the pen to my tablet
Its the regular bamboo it only works with the pen
MAN!
I wish i got the bamboo fun multitouch
#19
I compare doing art commishes on Gaia to being an actress/singer/model in real life..
If you're successful, you earn a fucking shitload and become a rich bitch.
But if you don't, then you're pretty much screwed. :P
#20
lol i agree with cursten i have no talent at all when it comes down to it
my avi art comes out looking like stick figures

The problem is when it comes to gaia avi's most of them suck to draw. They're usually very cluttered, and don't really help you improve too much.
#22
yea sometimes people want you to draw rediculas stuff for no reason but what the steep prices people charge they better have some good drawing skills

Which is why a lot of the relatively great artists often only draw OCs.

And the even smarter ones charge more for avis. =P
But that's why I don't open a shop and sort of just browse the art request forum, until I see something I'd like to draw.
#25
I remeber some dumbass guy actually trusted me. He said if I drew him a picture of his avi and sent it to him he would pay 200k. I forgot about him, until he messaged me saying "How is my picture coming along?" I told him it was finished and he made a trade giving me the gold (here's the dumbass part). I had no art so I made him something special. (After all I felt bad for not giving him his art.) Here it is:

I hope that came up :D
#26
i saw this person drawing stick figures of the avi. and was tipped over 10k D;<
#27
I hardly made 10k or so with artz . . . . duh!
#28
I make GIF images for gaians, >.> I get paid what they offer me, as long as its over 5k~

I'm so blah :'P I could ask for more but unlike others my art sucks and I can only draw chibis o.e
#29
I can't make art >.< Occasionally I can make some good little animated GIF and sell it, but that's pretty rare
#30
My brother used to make art when he was on Gaia.
He made quite alot of money off of it. He use to charge 20k per drawing and they weren't really that good.
#31
back when i was only legit i used to pay lots for art
#32
Gaia Artists are good.
I wish I could draw.
#33
I make em for 50k
Then I broke my tablet.
Need a new one.
Still waiting for it to arrive
#34
I can do doodles, got a tablet for mas, but it broke a few weeks later <<
#35
I saw one making crappy drawings getting payed 30k
:|
I should raise my prices
#36
I don't like a majority of the "artists" on Gaia.
Most of the shops are crappy art and are highly over priced. I dont mind paying a lot for good quality art, but i'm not going to dish out a few hundred thousand for something a 3 year old could do.

I wish I could draw. I can do headshots, but I fail at bodies
#37
I fail at hands and feet.
Here a tip for all of you:
Some of the people in gaia are questig a hundred of arts.
Make them one. Even a crappy one and they will pay handsomely.
Im searching for some now.
:]
#38
That actually is good advise, there's always the people who are all "Questing ____/_____ avi art. I always tip"

Even if it's something small, it's still something.
#39
I used to make breedables when I first joined gaia, but I cba with art stuff anymore(too much work for too little gold :( ).
You can probably make more gold selling the art for $$$ via devart, etc. then buying cash stuff for resale :|
#40
I hang in the Breedables forum.

Millions+ for a piece of art that was simply RECOLORED. Very easy cash if you know what you're doing.
