Especially since they've switched from ModDog, ModDog had the iP ban feature, i'm not sure about their new system..

Well , you have to do a hell lot of stuff to get that. But they have stopped doing it these days. It is a loss for them , after all.
I think gaia only bann our ip from entering gaia website

They place cookies into your browser and if you try to log into another account after a banned one, it will take you to a Gaia flp.
If you enter your password then, it'll ban the account, even if it wasn't abusing TOS.

LOL, that is complete bullshit. They do not IP ban, but they use your IP as a basis for chain banning accounts on your IP, and they do it quite often.

1.) That's assuming everyone that got banned (even unfairly) is a hacker / scammer.
2.) Cookies, can be edited.
3) They can just look at your IP and find all of your active, banned, and accounts that you have logged into in the past (x) amount of time.
Gaia logs everything you do.

They don't ban based on IP, they ban based on the cookie system. If you're using firefox and install noscript, then deny the cookies, it won't ban your main when you try to log in. Same with swapping browsers, if you bot on firefox and main on IE, it won't ban your main when you log in. +Rep if this helped please.

I originally posted this on June 2nd in Area 51 to get some feedback from some of the more serious players. Below is the semi-finished results of my guide. I tried my best to make it easy to read and understand. Hopefully this will help prevent another Gaia Holocaust.
I'm pretty sure the information I am about to share with you is going to be fairly new to most people. At the time, I had not seen this being discussed on any other forum other than where I originally posted. Shoot... I only found out how Gaia was doing this scam on June 1st. I went right trk on the problem and wrote a quick fix guide on the 2nd.
To put it in a nutshell, this is a method that Gaia uses to trace and ban your accounts. They use this method to even Find and Ban Your Legit Accounts once they get their sticky hold on you.
Now here is the fun part...
They are using YOU to do their dirty work for them.
On June 1st I made an error that drew Gaia's attention to 9 of my Girls. I pretty much knew they were going to get banned and sure enough... 10 hours later I got my first ban.
I started logging on my accounts to see who was still left. One by one I would find my accounts blocked. I was starting to panic because even accounts that I was not using were being banned. 19 of my girls had been banned before I stopped checking my accounts. I only had 5 girls left.
But there was something really odd going on and in my panic I never noticed it till it was nearly too late. I was consistently getting a General Error when I logged in! Below is a screen shot of the General Error page I was getting.

Before I continue I have to say this:
If you log in and get this General Error from Gaia... DO NOT GO ANY FURTHER!
If You Continue Your Account WILL Be BANNED!
Notice the two Red Arrows that I have drawn in the picture.
The first one points to The General Error and says that you will be Redirected in a few seconds.
The second arrow points to the login box that says Enter Your Password.
Remember What This Page Looks Like. This is a Gaia's Redirect Page that is similar to a common FLP that will get your account banned if you continue to try to log in!
Grins... Ok... Enough of the drama. Let me get back to my background story so that you can understand what I have found.
You see... I rarely get a login error because I copy and paste my user name and password into the login page. But that day I was consistently getting a login error and it would send me to that General error page. And then it would send me to a new login page. If I continued to login the second time... Poof... I was banned!
This part is very important.
If I had actually entered the wrong Log In information, the Account Name and Password Boxes would both be blank. Gaia would not leave the Account Name filled in and be asking me to Enter or Reconfirm My Password. They would send me to a page that says something like... Too many failed logins will result in a 15 minute IP ban.
What I believe they are doing is trying to force you to reconfirm your password similar to the way many sites make you enter your password and email twice. This is done to make sure you have made no typing mistakes. In this way they know for certain that it wasn't a fluke when you logged into the account the first time. They know without a doubt now that you own that account and then they block it.
How in the world were they finding me? Answer: Cookies!
All they have to do is tag you with certain cookies and then You Do Their Dirty Work For Them by Leading Them to Your Accounts.
This is what you have to do to protect yourself if you receive this Fake General Error.
12 Step Protection Plan
Read Through the Entire 12 Steps First Before Attempting to Do Them.
1. I am using FireFox with the NoScript add on. Using NoScript, I revoked all Java privileges from the Gaia web site. The two main ones were gaiaonline.com and quantserve.com.
2. Next delete all your cookies in your browser. This will make it easier to see what you are doing.
To get to the Cookie Folder, Go to: Tools, Options, Privacy, Show Cookies and then Remove All Cookies.
3. Close and restart your FireFox and then check again to make sure there are no cookies left in your browser. Try to log into Gaia. If you get the General Error... STOP!
4. Open up your cookies again and you will probably see the first two cookies and possibly the third one.

5. Ban all three (3) of these services (.coms) from putting cookies on your machine and then clear your cookies from your browser again.
You stop them from leaving cookies by putting them in the Exceptions Folder.
To get to the Exceptions Folder, Go to: Tools, Options, Privacy, Show Cookies and then Exceptions.
6. Put those three .coms in your Exception folder so they can't leave cookies. Close and restart FireFox and double check to make sure that you have no cookies on your browser.
7. Try to log into Gaia again. The Gaia page should come up saying that it needs cookies to view the pages correctly and that Cookies are Your Friends. Lawl... What a joke.
8. Again check to make sure there are no cookies being stored in your browser and close and restart FireFox.
Putting the Pieces Back Together Again.
9. Turn Gaia's Cookies Back On! If you do not turn them back on you will not be able to log into Gaia.
You do this by removing gaiaonline.com from the Exception Folder so that it can leave cookies again. Leave the other two .coms (quantserve and statcounter) Banned.
To get to the Exceptions Folder, Go back to: Tools, Options, Privacy, Show Cookies and then Exceptions.
10. Turn Gaia's Java Back On! Don't forget to allow gaiaonline.com to have Java Privileges on your NoScript or you won't be able to visit towns, go to movies or fish.
Keep quantserve.com Banned on your NoScript!
11. Try to log into Gaia again. If everything went right you should now be able to log into your account without any problems.
12. Check your cookies again and you should find the two following cookies:
gaiaonline.com
login.gaiaonline.com
Sucess!!! You are Done!
This should take care of the problems with the General Error Redirect Page. Hopefully...
I know that quantserve is a third party that hires out to other sites. I was thinking possibility that Gaia was using them to drop a custom cookie into the mix. I just don't know at the moment. I haven't had the time to investigate further and the Fix I came up with works reasonably well for the moment.
I tested this method repeatedly with one of my girls that was getting the General Error Screen.
In the Unprotected Mode you can use the Go Back One Page arrow to return to the page just before the General Error page, re-enter your login information and try to log in again normally. Doing this won't ban you but you will find that it will again take you to the General Error page.
I did this several times and each time I made sure I was using the correct log in information. Of course if you go past the General Error then you will have a big problem and get banned.
To sum it up:
Unprotected I got the General Error Screen and Bans.
Protected I had a Normal Login.
It's a quick and dirty fix but it worked for me. so I thought I would share my findings with the community.
As I said before... To the best of my knowledge this information hasn't been brought out before. I would like to find out how many people have have run into this problem and if they had taken any steps to prevent it.
As to the the actual method Gaia is using... I can only guess right now. But after loosing nearly all my accounts and 6 months of work, I think it was a fairly hard lesson to learn in the amount of time I had.
I would say that the testing I did is 98% accurate. I'll leave a 2% margin for error because it wasn't a controlled environment.
Update: Originally I thought that this method would totally eliminate this General Error Redirect Page.
It did however greatly retard it's ability to show up on my computer.
Even though I have put in the above fix, I have noticed that I still occasionally get the Critical Error with this particular login in. If I have my Firefox browser open to the Gaia Login Page for a long period of time and then try to login in, sometimes I will get a Redirect Error such as the one below. Notice the little yellow caution sign and the red type that says, "Enter your password".
That is pretty much a tip off for me that the Log In isn't legit for me.

Can you see the differences? Make sure you are looking at them in full size. Gaia did their best to make the Fake and Legit pages look nearly identical so that you would be fooled.

The following two screen shots are the Fake General Error Login Box. Notice that I have circled, "Enter Your Password". That is the 1st Tip that this is Not Legit.

After a few seconds, the page changes and you go to the next login page. The Screen Shot below shows that Login Box is Identical to the 1st one.
This is the 2nd Tip Off that this is a Fake Login. Notice that it still has your User Name Printed in the Box and says, "Enter Your Password". They want you to CONFIRM that this is your account so that they can ban you!

This is Very Important: Both the User Name and Password Boxes Must Be Blank!
This Login Box is Legit and Safe to Use.

Conclusion
The bright side is that I don't consistently get these error pages like I did before I put in the above fix. If I do get one of these errors, I just use the Back Page Arrow and try again. If I get the error once more, I close the Browser Tab and make a new tab. I will have no further problems for a while after making a New Tab and then I can log onto any of my remaining accounts with n
I could see distinct possibilities of getting this General Error if I was a scammer. It would be super easy to ban accounts that I had scammed using this. However my scamming usually consists of just snooping around on other people's accounts... Taking the grand tour so to speak. Grins...
Since I mostly bot and do some packet editing, the error pages are just an annoyance now. Since I understand what they are, I can easily avoid them.
It is easy enough to get away from these tricky pages now that you know what to look for. Simply click the back button to go to the previous page and then refresh the page. You should now be able to enter your account without any trouble.
Remember: Backup, Refresh and then Login with the clean page.
Also Gaia does have a Legit General Error Page. To be on the safe side always backup, refresh and then login on a clean page.
I'm hoping that other people will look into this matter and add to this knowledge base so that we can keep current on any new developments that the Gaia Tricksters throw at us.

My main was banned by attempting a login on the same browser.
However, i swapped from Chrome to FF and logged into my secondary mule and it was safe.
That proves the chain ban wasn't by IP.

Are you sure that you never tried to login to those accounts? Because like I said, by logging in with the cookies in effect, you get banned.
