It was the beta weekend.

Not official release,

Many people seemed disappointed with the beta on other forums.

Anyone know how this compares with FFXIV? How well do the "Skyrim like mechanics" work in an MMORPG?

azdeanna; I don't know what FFXIV is, sorry
so far I dont think you can kill characters/npc's in the game to make it fair for everyone.
it's pretty much the same things as in other elderscrolls games though, but I'm not completely sure what the plot is supposed to be
ive only played in the first town though

USE, FFXIV is Final Fantasy 14 (mmorpg). Sounds like the game mechanics in Elderscrolls are (logically) the same as the ones in Skyrim. I got kind of bored around level 42(?) in Skyrim, but I may have to check Elderscrolls Online out. Thanks for the reply!!!

How did I miss the Beta Weekend?
I am disappoint. I didn't know it got released until now, so thank you. I have to go grab a friend and play it like there's no tomorrow during winter break. (If it's not as disappointing as King makes it sound.)

Are the Beta sign-ups over? The sign up page won't load.

Still playing Skyrim right now actually, I can never get bored with all these mods.
That and there's too many side quests, I never even got past level 35, because I keep re-making my character for some reason.

I pulled Skyrim back up the other night and found I'm at 52, not 42. No mods 'cuz it's on the PS3, which is prolly why I get bored. I have 2 maxed out houses, got engaged by accident, so I got married and have 2 kids. LMAO I am head of the Dark Brotherhood and thieve's guild and sneak anywhere I want; they don't see me unless they actually run into me. I may start playing it again. IDK... LOL I need to fight the head vamp guy. My character is parked outside his castle w/ his daughter and some Dawnguard.

I do want to check out Elderscrolls online when it's released. I think like FFXI/FFXIV, it could be really cool interacting w/ other players instead of just NPCs. I'll have to see which is cooler. I only have enough $ for one monthly online subscription... LOL

I haven't gotten to try it yet, is it available to the public yet?

It says the release date is 4/4/14 for mac & pc. IDk if you can still get in on beta testing...
