My friend got a baby deer for her birthday. It's a girl.

EDIT: It's name is Opal though... what a stupid name. And after two days it's already like, coming when its name is called O_O I always pictured deer as like... 100% wild, can't be tamed kinda animals...

Here that is 100% illegal, and you can be fined for it. My friend had nursed one back to health one time and told me I couldn't tell anyone because of that reason. Can't do it unless you have a special permit or some documentation. Like my illegal flying squirrel that happens to be considered an exotic animal -.-"
According to my dad (who is a retired game warden), depending on what state you are in owning a deer may or may not be illegal. There are exceptions that require special permits and licences to own them thoughv(its a long process to get the req. licences here). One of my neghibors here owns a deer farm though they are raised for commercial reasons (i.e. provideing restaraunts with vennison and such). But in the state of maine you are legally allowed to have them for commercial purposes or conservation/protection purposes (wildlife sanctuary, animal hospital, etc) , but you cannot keep them as domesticated pets.
