My cousins gave me the same advice. Don't worry, I never will haha. I don't get the point of destroying your lungs and risking cancer to something that probably doesn't even taste good, just is addictive.

@Charles: Nope, I really don't, so in retrospect I probably wont.

Never tried it. I'm a strait edge when it comes to smoking and drugs and drinking and shit, I'm going to wait until I'm 21. For some reason though, with the music and stuff I listen to, I feel like when I drink after 21 and stuff, every time I drink I'm going to end up getting completely fucking smashed at some huge techno concert/party thing. Just a feeling, for some reason.

Techno will be making its way out the doors by the time you're 21. It's nearly out the door now

Nah, I don't really see that happening. It's just coming to life, why would it die already? That's like the people who say rap only existed in the 90's. While it's not as good now, in my opinion, it's most definitely still here.

In retrospect, I don't think pop, Lady Gaga, or Beyonce will be around by the time I hit 21. The general quality of music has been degrading for a while, it's been proven in studies. And pop is only making it worse.

Cigarettes don't taste good, but the health risks alone are reason enough not to start. The cilia in your throat start dying after I think only a week or so. Then you get smoker's cough and all. It's fucking stupid. All downsides, no upsides. The only reason they are legal is literally because they were invented before we realized how deadly they were. God, no respect for cigarettes at all. I'm all for experimentation, but they are just stupid.

Preachin to the chour man. Its so hard to quit.

The damn ignorance is blinding. Beyonce has been around and popular since 1997. Madonna has been around and popular since the fucking 80's. The second thing I want to know what the fuck you're talking about by "music quality has been degrading". What studies? There CAN'T BE studies on quality decrease since quality is all about OPINIONS. Some of the most critically acclaimed albums/artists came from the 00's (most recently Adele's 21 album)

the damn foolery I just read

Pop just means popular. To say pop won't be around when you're 21 is to say that no music will be popular when you're 21.

Dubstep is making it big in the world right now.
'Nuff said.

These studies are based on the complexity of the songs
Also, OMAGAWD, 15 FUCKING YEARS!?!?!
bitch please, that's nothing...

Which is a myth. There are actual algorithms to determine how an audience will respond to a song, and record labels use this program (written by some genius European scientists) to determine whether or not to sign a band or how much to promote a particular song or how to choose which ones to push to radio stations. Said engine is still today picking up songs with outlier scores above songs in the past. Musical talent has pretty much stayed the same, or if anything has maybe slightly improved given new instruments and higher sound quality for recordings.

Do you really think someone being a celebrity for a long time makes them talented at anything?

Also Adele? Are you taking something? I can't listen to her whale voice and not get upset

Where are you getting this from?

The lack of techno inspired music in the mainstream. As opposed to 09/10 when it was huge

First of all, Madonna has been popular since the fucking 80's and has managed to stay equally as relevant today (moreso than anyone who started in the 80's)
and when you're only 32, being a worldwide superstar for 15 years (half your fucking life) is a big deal, the point FLYING over your head.
And it's funny you all keep mentioning "these studies" yet can't name ANY of these studies.
You heifer's keep TRYING it and remain fuming behind your keyboards that music is just as good (if not, better) than the basic shit in the 60/70/80/90's.

Are you stupid? Everyone who is a celebrity (even Kim Kardashion) are talented in their own ways and that's why they're popular. And if you're even TRYING to come for Beyonce's talent (who has more talent in one weave, than any artist in the 80's).

And not you trying to come for fucking ADELE (as if her weight has anything to do with her powerhouse vocals). You just ended up proving my point by saying her heart-felt anthems invoked emotion. Which is why 21 is one of the best selling albums of ALL time WORLDWIDE (in an age of piracy)

I'm not disagreeing about Madonna. She's certainly an icon of the pop music of the last decades. Now onto beyonce, she has been in the music industry for 15 years, but I think saying she's been a worldwide superstar for that amount of time is ridiculous. Regarding the studies, I'm not the one who brought them up and I'm only recalling what I read in an article a few months back. I don't see studies to tell Meir music is good or not, I can judge by myself

How is it ridiculous? Destiny's Child is the 2nd best selling girl group of all time (worldwide)
#58
Pop music is ridiculous in the first place.
I am out of this conversation.

Yeah, no. Pop music is one of the best ways of understanding the social mid-class culture of a generation.

Because once again, the receipts speak for themselves

I've actually never attended any of those shows and don't plan on it. And Beyonce is not that talented... she doesn't even use her real hair

Pop music is for little girls.
