When to say enough is enough?
Alcohol is something that I think many suffer to control in life, I myself have unfortunately suffered this tyrant. Infact it is still sadly, causing me to suffer. The months of me not being on here is due to not only my job, but life and drink. Now what I am wondering is when is enough, enough?

I do not suffer from hangovers, no matter how much I drink and I always remember everything. This may be the norm to many of you, but I am curious how many. So this thread is a debate about alcohol abuse and also, to help me.

Much Love.

Alchohol is a terrible thing when abused, my friend did that and then played a bunch of hands at the casino and had to get his parents to bail him out, he lost his girlfriend (who im now dating >_>;) and I forgave him, because he has a problem

I am against all drugs, alcohol is a drug. It impairs your ability to function(hangover or not), it damages your body(particularly your heart, liver, and brain). Its addictive like all substances that alter your mind.
Drug use in general, in my opinion, is a sign of weakness. A crutch for those unable to function in/process reality correctly.
If you drink in excess daily, don't have hang overs, and don't have/perceive blackouts, you're addicted and can no longer function without alcohol and need help.

The key is to know your limits. I personally think anything heavier or more dangerous than Marijuana or Shrooms should be completely avoided. I support the use of Marijuana. It doesn't alter my look on reality as much as it makes me more aware of everything that's going on around me, and helps me to logically think and plan out everything I have to do today, or the issues I'm having in life.
It slows me down, yes, which is why I wouldn't ever be high at work or anything.
Cannabis doesn't impair your judgement, and you can function perfectly fine on it. Personally, I function better given some scenarios.
But never worse than I usually do.

Shrooms should only be taken once every occasion when you have nothing to do the next day (Because you're going to sleep A LOT when you come down from it), and should only be taken wherever you're comfortable and don't plan on leaving for the rest of the night.
Good company is ALWAYS preferable.
Whenever I've taken Mushrooms, I've never hallucinated. I always stop at that feeling great and care about everything stage.

Alcohol, however, is bad if you don't know how to handle your shit.
I get drunk occasionally (used to be frequently) and when I do I notice I'm drunk, and limit myself to just water when I'm at the loopy/silly stage. Anything more will just make me throw up, and I don't know WHO enjoys that.
If you are a violent/angry drunk, then don't drink.
If you are a fun/loving drunk, then go for it just don't be TOO fun or TOO loving.

Long story short, the Key is having fun. Doing these things to enjoy yourself and the company you keep.
As long as its good company, you do them responsibly, and you don't let it interfere with your necessities or your responsibilities, then I don't see how doing it can show any sign of weakness.
Unless, of course, your soul purpose for doing them is to feed a dangerous addiction and to escape your responsibilities and needs.
So C0ffin, in a way I agree and I disagree with you.

It is the norm for me. I don't get hangovers and have perfect recall of drunken nights.

You just need to know your limit. Set a limit not for how much you can tolerate before you "lose your shit" or "lose control" or "get sick," like many people set their limits, since that doesn't apply to you. Set your limit for how much is a healthy amount to drink.

If you drink one to two drinks a day, you will actually live longer than if you didn't drink at all. If you drink more than two drinks in a day, you will actually die sooner; the more, the faster.

Assuming you aren't suicidal/have self-respect, use it as a limitation for how much you drink. You aren't just getting drunk anymore. You are, research proven, taking hours/days/weeks/years off of your life. Only take away as many as you want, hopefully a fewer amount.

Caffeine is a drug. So is Benedryl, Asperin, Tylenol, and everything you are prescribed. I am betting you take those. What drugs are you against exactly? It can't be all. Recreational? Alcohol makes you live longer (see previous post) if taken responsibly. Prescription drugs can be used recreationally.

The "all drugs are bad" ideology is flawed. You should be a realist. Only bad drugs are bad, and drugs used irresponsibly.

I love big nights out with all the boys when everyone gets on the drink. For the most part, it's harmless. The main thing I'm concerned about when I drink is saying things I'll regret the next day, but that rarely occurs. Mind you, I don't have an addictive personality (i.e. I would never be able to a problem smoker because I'd perceive it as being too much effort always going down to the store every other day to buy cigarettes). If you take out the recreational aspect of drinking, I'd only have 1-2 beers a week.

Only time I've ever had very vague recollections of the previous night was one of the first times I drank (and obviously didn't know my limits).

I know my limits when I see that i'm failing in school , That's when I reduce the amount consumed per day.
Works for me.

I don't do unethical drugs at all :p

Those include but aren't limited to: Alcohol/Liquor, Cigarettes, Marijuana, etc.

you get the picture

You don't drink or smoke, if i got that then i'm good.

Though sometimes it's just a social thing, only for alcohol.Marijuana is self pleasure, not peer pressure or anything, you would know me from before, you would ask yourself how the hell did i touch that shit. But it's cool, Life is yours , will end one day or an other, and you gotta exploit it, with your body and soul.

^ & ^^ Together. Reminds me of:

Teh lulz. Oh i'm at "Weighted Discussion" so lets stay on-topic.
Alcohol is the password to the highways of the distant lands to meet the "Nothing than alcohol" in your brains. I recommend drinking something that doesn't makes you hooked up, like, a glass of wine per day. THIS is the best thing that you can do. Your social life yes, for sure will go down if you gets "drunken" for showoff to your friends, like, i drink more than you! Hahaha. Don't follow those steps that your friends make, follow whatever can fit with you, the real thing that fits, is what you really likes, and nope what your friends needs to be "cool", if you want to show "histories" from your life, meet people, travel, share opinions, but don't, don't use the alcohol to be cool or so on. Use your mind before do anything, look at the future, try using the Google Earth, look at some crazy punk ass shit motherfucking things from galaxy, this for sure will make you pokerface, so you will not be happy, not sad, you will be normal. Then, go to a party, drink something that will make you "happy", it can have alcohol, but not so many, try some Heineken, or just drink some coke, go to a girl, share opinions, ask where her life and so on. This will make you inside something that's like the friendzone, but there you'll need to manage by yourself, you will choose if "Best Friends", or "Girlfriend", eh. You choose what you do, if you want something that hook you up, choose the love, but not the alcohol, love can bring union, peace, and a family. The alcohol is the reverse, and including: "The asshole of a drunken has no Owner".
