Fake or not fake?
Is everyone online fake or not fake?
Second question: Is anyone fake or not fake here on LG?

I here people talk about their lives on here, and personally I think they sound very far fetched.

Also, since online you can have more than one account, someone could be both your friend and enemy right? I know all of that info is like totally obvious, but will you just think about it... And... are you fake or not fake?
I just wanna know your thoughts and opinions on this subject.

hmm, well whoever knows about me knows the truth about me, so im not fake. but as far as the people around me. hmmm yes i believe they could be fake in some way or another, not everyone online has what they say they have you kno, some people scam with this "fakeness" so therefore, sure alot of people are fake.
#3
IDK what the Hell you're talking about OP, but everything I say is legit, excluding personal information like name, address, etc.
#4
People make false statements about their life online all the time.

But I actually am a self-made millionaire with practically three wives <.<
#5
I have proof of what Arti just stated. :p

Not to mention though, even though 90% of what you read on the internet will be bull, you have to consider the fact that the lowest of the low also reside on the internet. Therefore things that may sound crazy, might just be true.

And if by chance, you created this thread in spite of my story, I can personally tell you that my story is true. However, if you choose not to believe it, I hold nothing against you. It's only fair (and intelligent) to not believe everything you read on the internet.
#6
I thought this thread would be about tits.
#7
Well without definate proof it's safe to guess that things you hear about a persononline is pretty much bull.
#8
haha i see what he means i think most are not.
#9
I think it depends on the person, amazingly I'd say I'm a bit shy on the internet compared to RL. I know people who the exact opposite. It really just depends on the person.
#10
Haha, internet safety ftw.

Actually I really liked reading your story, but actually the thing my original thought wasn't that topic, sorry. I hope to read more entries about it, its very interesting. And you right to state that not everything you see online is true, personal or other data.

This. Completely this.

I have no need to exaggerate things. I know what is true, and those close to me know what is real.

In my eyes why should you change who you are just because a screen is blocking everyone's view of the real you. Even if things seem far fetched, you have to remember that they can happen to people. On the internet all you have is someone's word, you choose to believe it or not; then move on with your life.
#14
I'm not fake, I actually am some crazy icky 14 year old named Syd.
Honestly, If you did ask and I trusted you, I could share a story I've written.
But thats rare.
I typed one out for a Jonas contest, but thats it.
Anyways, In reality, I go to school via cyber school, Although I have been to a real school.
Just, my high school is insane and doesnt have any hope for me.
Also, i hang out with friends and draw.
Mostly everything i say and do is foreal. Cept some gay rumors.

Concidering there is no way to find out unless you end up meeting them in real life and that cyberspace is a way to escape reality and create your own,I would say alot of the population on the internet is fake
#19

allow us to introduce you to the concept of a "meritocracy" - the closest thing to a form of self-government we have. In the united meritocratic nation-states of the internet, those who can do, rule. Those who wish to rule, learn. Everyone else watches from the stands.

You may posses everything in the off-line world. We don't care. You come to the internet penniless, lacking the only thing of real value here: Knowledge.

"who cares? The internet isn't real anyway!" this attitude is universally unacceptable. The internet is real. Real people live behind those handles and screen names. Real machines allow it to exist. It's real enough to change government policy, real enough to feed the world's hungry, and even, for some of us, real enough to earn us a paycheck. Using your own definition, how "real" is your job? Your stock portfolio? Your political party? What is the meaning of "real", anyway?

people embelish their lives on the internet all the time. fact of the matter is, people want to build themselves up, consciously or elsewise.

there is no point in lying about your life online, its kinda sad. for one, i dont lie about my life. you should do the same and never lie.
#22
I be fake. I am really a 41 year old virgin.

What happens if I perceive my online life to be my real life and offline as just a small break from reality.

You're no longer a solid tangible object, you are simply an idea, a constant figment throughout our imaginations.
#26

Well Alex in technical terms, you would be fucking nuts.

But it is called Matrixism. Some dumb-ass defined it after the Matrix came out.
#29
Pssht.
I love the internet, for 1 reason.
You escape reality.
#30
i am 100% real baby

No one really puts their real info online, its for fun or something :]
#33
What do you mean? If you mean the programs then yes everything is real
#34
100% real here. But at the same time, I dont say anything about my life on here. All I am is my personality.
#35
I'm a pubescent asian kid who has no friends and comes to the internet for lulz.
Sound realistic enough for you?

Very nice.

I'm not going to give out personal info but yea I'm real. Most people that use the internet as a place to live a double life are upset about their current life and decide to make up something new and exciting to replace the cruddy one. After all, it's the internet and I can do whatever I want right?
#37
I'm real when I wanna be.

When I'm not, I'm not.
I have a few interent persona's, but they're mostly all just for personal gain.
However, they all happen to have a little bit of the real me in them
#38
I'm not fake; I act exactly the same irl; I can see why some people would want ti act different online, but the way I see it is if people don't like you irl, and you have to make up a persona to be "cool" online, maybe you should transfer some of that coolness to your irl self and maybe people might like you? just a thought...
#39
Me, no i am not fake, i am who i am, anyone that knows me would say the same, im not scared to say what i think, if someone says something wrong, or i dont agree, i will tell them, but yes i do think that there are quite a few fake people.... well out of the entire would, there would need to be lots...

and by the way, thats a very good topic!
