Yeah, but I meant on the side of the island with surf. The characters in your name determine what pokemon appear there.

That's why his name is important. Missingno won't appear with out a name that cause it to. Of course you can always go talk to the old guy that teaches you how to catch pokemon to temporarily change your name to OLD MAN and catch Missingno that way.

Cause Old Man gives static L Missinno. With the right name you could have Ghost or Fossil Missingno.
Plus he might also have access to Mew or something ridiculous.
